Our tax-focused movement started in 1983 with one CPA who noticed a growing need for clients to receive investment advice that aligned with their tax situations. Referring his tax clients to someone else for financial planning meant his clients were often placed in inappropriate investments or accounts, resulting in adverse tax implications.
Avantax Through the Years
In 2019, HD Vest and 1st Global unified to form Avantax, adding HK Financial Services in 2020 via acquisition. Since then, Avantax has grown to support a network of independent tax and financial professionals providing comprehensive financial services to families, individuals, and small businesses. In 2023, we joined Cetera, further strengthening our ability to serve more than 3,000 Financial Professionals and approximately $107 billion in assets under administration* across all 50 states. We don’t just focus on investment returns; we consider the tax impact of every decision, helping you keep more of what you earn.
